Ten weekends a year at Roundlake
A camp in Holmes County runs retreats almost every month of the year — for sixth graders, for seniors, and for families who book a week in the same fortnight each spring.
Roundlake Christian Camp sits at 114 State Route 3 in Lakeville, about forty minutes south of Wooster. What is notable about it is not any single event but the cadence.
Look at what the camp has published for the coming year:
- Fall Family Camp, 2–7 September
- Women's Retreat, 12 September
- Seniors' Day at the Lake, 6 October
- Wilderness Fall Retreat for sixth to eighth graders, 9–11 October
- High School Retreat, 15–17 January
- Elementary Retreat, 22–23 January
- Middle School Retreat, 12–14 February
- Board Game Retreat, adults only, 19–21 February
- Spring Family Camp, 26–31 May
That is nine retreats before next summer, on top of the summer camp itself, which ran 2–8 August for young people who had completed fifth through twelfth grade.
The deadlines are the tell
Almost every one of those retreats closes registration at noon on the Monday before. Not a week out, not a fortnight — noon Monday, over and over.
A camp that can say "noon Monday" nine times a year is a camp that knows exactly how long it takes to buy food and assign bunks.
It is a small thing, and it is the kind of small thing that only shows up when you put a year of someone's work on one page.
What we have listed
Every Roundlake retreat above is in this directory, each linking back to the camp's own page. Where the camp has published a check-in time we show it; where it has not, we say so rather than guess.
