Why Time Apart runs twice

Rather than book a bigger room, OMN Women runs the same women's conference over two separate weekends — and prices it so that a single mother pays the same as a teenager.

The Ohio Ministry Network's women's ministry holds Time Apart at the Heartland Conference Retreat Center in Marengo. This year it runs on two weekends rather than one: 18–19 September, and again 25–26 September.

Same conference. Twice.

The pricing says something

Here is what OMN Women published:

  • General admission, 25 and over — $85 early, $95 after
  • Teens and young adults, 16 to 24 — $65 early, $75 after
  • Single mothers — $65 early, $75 after

The third tier is the interesting one. A single mother pays the teenager's price, not the adult one. Nobody has to explain their circumstances to a registration desk; the discount is simply a line on the form.

On-campus dorm housing is $44 per person, and the optional Friday dinner is $14.50, with reservations at 4:30 and 5:30.

A note on what we could not tell you

The organiser's page does not publish session times. We have listed the conference with the Friday dinner window, because that is the earliest thing actually stated — and the listing says the start time is not published rather than inventing one.

If you are deciding whether to drive, that is worth a phone call.
